We finally managed to escape tyrannical old man winter and head south for a week. What a treat! The smell of summer, abundant sunshine, and time to relax was just the right cure, and got us thinking about summer in TC. Our condo rental was very nice. And now that we are in the vacation rental business, I pay extra attention as a customer.
Thus, here are the things I learned while on vacation:
1. Amenities count. I was so impressed with how our condo was well stocked with "extras". I expected dishes etc for use in the kitchen, but this place went the extra mile with bicycles, tennis rackets, beach toys and chairs, and a small cooler that we put to very good use. I can't tell you how many times we've bought a throw away cooler on vacation, because we couldn't take one on the plane. I felt like the owner really thought through the little things that can make your stay that much easier and more comfortable.
2. Location is paramount. Being without a vehicle makes the location of your stay especially important. This place again, did not disappoint. We were walking distance to everything and made lots of use of the bikes included in the rental. When we wanted to venture beyond the limits of our physical ability, the manager left information about a free trolley that takes tourists around the island every 20 minutes. The stop was right out front of our complex. While I knew about the trolley from doing some research, it was great having the information at our fingertips in the condo.
3. Beds can make or break a stay. I can't say enough about the many niceties included in our condo--the owner did a great job and we loved the location. That being said, we wouldn't go back without an upgrade to the bed. The rock hard, small double bed gave Norm back cramps, and caused us both multiple sleepless nights. Norm even tried the couch, hoping for a better result, because he was so uncomfortable. While we had a fabulous vacation, we couldn't wait to get home to a good night's rest.
So, as I reflect on what I can take away from this experience to apply to Bay Town Suite--I think we are doing many things right. Our decision to include bikes with a paid stay this summer was more than verified by our experience at this condo. We loved being able to grab them and go, and know our guests will appreciate the many bike trails and ease of peddling around TC. Our king comfort bed is spacious, luxurious, and has been raved about by many previous guests. And best of all, the location of Bay Town Suite cannot be beat! We are in walking distance to all TC has to offer.
But all great things can be improved upon, and Bay Town Suite is no exception. We will be adding those "little things", that I found to be extra special on this recent vacation. We will include a cooler, beach towels, chairs, and a few toys. We want our guests to spend more time enjoying TC and less time running to stores for forgotten items, or things they are unable to travel with. We are excited to offer these new items to our guests and look forward to the 2014 season at Bay Town Suite!
